posted on 02/19/2008

The Choosing Health and Sensible Exercise (CHASE) program has been designed as an eight-week course to educate overweight children and adolescents 6 – 17 years of age and their families about lifestyle principles, nutrition and exercise, that will prevent further weight gain, and thus, lowering their risk of developing diabetes.

The course generally consists of a one-hour nutrition lesson followed by one hour of exercise activities during an eight-week period. Daily handouts from the CATCH nutrition curriculum, National Institutes of Health, USDA and other valuable sources are provided. In addition, the participants receive a textbook which is meant as a reference for the CHASE program.
