Use of E2F2 for the Treatment of High Blood Pressure

Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center
posted on 02/13/2009

Description: Hypertension contributes to progressive cardiac dysfunction and ultimately heart failure. Heart failure affects over 5 million Americans, with more than 500,000 new diagnoses annually in the United States alone, and remains the leading cause of death. A decrease in the E2F2 protein has been related to hypertension, and administering an agent that increases E2F2 expression or E2F2 activity has been shown to have an effect on treating or preventing hypertension.
