Molecule Sorter

Innovation Details

Detailed Description

A branched fluidic channel architecture and system for sorting single molecules based upon their fluorescence signature. Real-time signal processing and analysis of the signature are used to actuate rapid switching of the electrokinetic flow to separate molecules of interest into collection volumes. This technology can be scaled to examine and sort based upon multiple fluorescent marks.

Potential Applications

  • Wide range of single molecule interrogation applications

Advantages

  • Fast, accurate sorting of molecules
  • High throughput (can handle over one thousand molecules per minute)
  • Capable of expansion to electrical, magnetic, etc. based detection
