Detailed Description

A faculty member has developed ten (10) clonal lines from mouse ovarian surface epithelium of C57B6 mice.

We are interested in licensing these celllines to companies engaged in ovarian cancer research and/or form a collaboration to study the early detection and mouse gene therapy of this disease (see below for licensing instructions).
  • Tumorigenic mouse ovarian surface epithelial cells
  • Syngeneic immune-intact mouse model of ovarian cancer
Mouse ovarian surface epithelial cells (MOSEC; C57Bl6 mouse) were isolated and cultured in vitro and underwent spontaneous transformation after multiple passage. The parental cell line was cloned and 10 lines were established (1).All ten cell lines form tumors when injected into mice. Following intraperitoneal injection into C57Bl6 mice tumors seed throughout the peritoneal cavity and ascites fluids accumulate similar to late stage ovarian cancer in women.

Histopathologic analysis of tumors revealed a highly malignant neoplasm containing both carcinomatous and sarcomatous components.

Other Information: *State of Development* Available for non-exclusive license. *Testing* Injection of these cells intraperitioneally into either nude or syngenic mice induced the formation of bloody ascites with seeding tumors throughout the peritoneal cavity.

The mice die within 2-3 months after a single injection. There is no evidence of disease until ascites formation at approximately one (1) week prior to death.

In tests for tumorigenicity, all ten (10) cell lines were malignant and produced bloody ascites within 2-5 months.
