Detailed Description

The assay will measure total iron in biological fluids (cerebral spinal fluid, serum, urine), tissues, and soils. This assay has a sensitivity of greater than 0.1 uM and it requires no specialized or expensive equipment, other than a densitometer. The present assay has very low intra-and inter-assay variability. It is reasonable to expect that iron levels in fluids like cerebral spinal fluid will fluctuate during disease states. Thus, this assay could be a uniquely-suited clinical chemistry measure for various states of health.
