Manufacturing Technique for Passive RFID Tags with Shorted Microstrip Antennas
University of Kansas
posted on 01/12/2006
"A microstrip RFID tag is comprised of an antenna, matching circuit, integrated circuit (IC), substrate, and ground plane. For low manufacturing cost, the antenna, matching circuit, and IC are all on the same plane. The ground plane is separated by the substrate. Using a microstrip antenna, one can construct an RFID tag that works on otherwise difficult-to-tag materials such as metal or water."
