Surface-Initiated, Silica Supported ROMP Hybrid Materials for Application as Scavengers and Reagents in Facilitated Synthetic Protocols
University of Kansas
posted on 03/23/2011
The invention offers high load reagents and scavengers which combine the physical properties of the silica surface with the inherent tunable properties of the ROMP-derived oligomers. The materials possess higher loadings (mmol/g) than existing commercial reagents and scavengers currently in the market. Increasing the load of such materials requires less material to be used compared to currently available silica materials. In addition, the loading of the material is tunable, a feature current silica reagents do not possess. The material typically remains a free flowing solid despite the incorporated high load oligomer, allowing for facile use. Removal of the free flowing material merely requires passage of the reaction solution through a Celite SPE to yield pure products.
