Alpha synuclein can be used as a novel biomarker for detection of melanoma

The researchers have discovered a novel method whereby a-synuclein can be used to detect the presence of specific melanoma type cells present in skin cancer patients. The discovery can be used as an additional test when performing skin biopsies of melanoma cells.
