New biomarkers in bladder cancer progression

Medical College of Georgia
posted on 11/22/2010

Biomarkers in bladder cancer have been identified that are useful in identifying the presence of bladder cancer through a urine sample analysis. The biomarkers are unique to bladder cancer and their presence marks a definitive presence. Currently, only cytologic studies have shown the presence of bladder cancer which requires a biopsy to be taken and is more invasive. The new method of bladder cancer identification will make it simpler to identify bladder cancer.
