The Dohlman Keratoprosthesis has been successfully implanted in over 500 patients over several decades with excellent long term results. This is the only treatment available to retain sight for a relatively small patient population that have typically experienced corneal transplant failure(s). The Type I device is manufactured and currently available through the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary at cost. The Type II device (for more problemmatic and active disease candidates) is continually being improved and also yields positive results. The FDA has inspected and approved manufacturing and distribution of the Dohlman Keratoprosthesis which has been available worldwide on a limited basis since 1976. A commercial partner interested in marketing and distribution of this device to cornea specialists is sought.
