This invention relates to a method of treating diseases characterized by excessive cell growth by co-administering one or more retinoids with one or more estradiol metabolites or methoxyestrones.

  • Renal diseases, cancer
  • Skin diseases
  • Pulmonary diseases
  • Pulmonary hypertension
  • Diseases of excessive vascular smooth muscle cell growth
  • Diseases of excessive fibroblast cell growth

Advantages

  • Combination of methoxyestradiol with retinoic acid synergistically increases activity and increases efficacy
  • Estradiol metabolites retain little estrogenic activity and are therefore believed to be safe
